For three decades, the people of Delvin and the surrounding areas have come together with one purpose in mind – to support hospice care. This year marks the 30th anniversary of Delvin Hospice fundraising, a milestone that reflects not only generosity, but also the deep spirit of community and compassion that has kept this important work alive.
Since the very beginning, volunteers, families, and local organisations have given their time, talents, and energy to raise funds. From coffee mornings and raffles to sponsored walks, tractor runs, Bring & Buy Sales, Golf Classics, bike runs, children doing “the wren” and community nights, every event has carried the same message: no one faces illness or end-of-life alone.
Over the years, the funds raised have gone directly to providing comfort, dignity, and care to patients and their families at the most difficult of times. It has allowed hospice services to expand, to reach more people, and to ensure that those in need have access to vital support.
Behind the figures and events are countless personal stories—of neighbours supporting neighbours, of families finding peace through hospice care, and of a community that never hesitated to rally together.
As Delvin Hospice fundraising celebrates this 30-year journey, it is not just a look back at what has been achieved, but also a renewed commitment to the future. The need for hospice services remains as vital as ever, and the ongoing kindness of supporters will ensure that the work continues.
