Clothing Collection For Our Christmas Lights!

Christmas LightsThis November you can help two worthy causes – the Delvin Christmas Lights Fund AND the National Council for the Blind of Ireland – simply by donating your old and unwanted clothes!

The National Council for the Blind of Ireland (NCBI) operates more than 70 shops all over the country, selling quality second hand clothes – many of which have been collected by local causes. In return for their efforts, the NCBI makes a worthwhile donation to these causes – so everyone’s a winner! This year, the donation received in exchange for the clothes collected locally will go towards Delvin’s Christmas lights.

As many will know, the lights that used to run the full length of our main street over the festive period for many years are now worn out and unsafe. It is hoped that these lights will be replaced and the local Christmas Lights committee is working hard to develop our local illuminations and also the now annual “switching on” ceremony – due to take place this year on the 5th December.

Literally every cent raised counts, so please go through your wardrobes and clear out anything you don’t want or need anymore.

The clothes can be dropped off at the handball centre on Friday 20th November between 9am and noon.

If you cannot make the collection day itself, please call Clareanne on 087 976 9585 and alternative arrangements can be made.
