Volunteer Elves Required For Christmas Lights Set-up!

Christmas LightsThe Delvin Christmas Lights Committee hosted an enlightening open meeting in Carmel Gaffney’s on Tuesday night.

Some smart decision making during the last few years means that there are funds available to purchase some additional lights this year. Lit steel trees will be installed on poles along the main street with two larger trees now on order for installation near the church. The ever popular crib will also be returning.

Can You Spare A Few Hours To Help?

If you can spare an hour or two on or after Saturday 26th November to help set up the lights – the committee wants to hear from you!

It is hoped that the bulk of the work will be done on the weekend of the 26th but this will depend on the availability of volunteer helpers.

If you would like to help out in any way, please give Barney a call on 087 604 6801.

No “Switch On” Ceremony This Year

A letter from Santa Claus was read out during the meeting advising that he would not be able to make this year’s switching on ceremony. In fairness, he is due to make two other appearances in the village that week, so we can’t complain!

A decision has therefore been made to “rest” the ceremony this year – but fear not, it will return next year!

Annual Draw

Two luxury hampers are being prepared and draw cards will shortly be available in local shops. Entry will be €2 per line or 3 lines for €5. This is a major fundraiser for the lights development fund, so please support.

The draw will take place on Saturday 17th December at the Blue Hackle. A raffle will also take place on the night.
