North Westmeath Turf Cutters will host a Traditional Turf Cutting Demo and family fun day on Sunday 7th May from 12 at the bog in Drumcree. Among the attractions promised will be a demonstration of how turf used to be cut in the olden days and this will be followed a competition where teams from several local pubs will have a go at cutting the turf themselves.

Traditional children’s games, music by local musicians and a “Queen Of The Bog” competition will also take place on the day.

Admission will be €10 per adult. Proceeds from the event will go to Delvin Hospice Homecare and the Fore Church Window Restoration Fund. Full parking will be available with disables parking available on request.
