The Mean Streets Of Garradrimna

The Mean Streets of GarradrimnaDelvin Book Fair 2018 are commemorating the centenary of the publication of The Valley of The Squinting Windows by Brinsley McNamara in 1918, and are pleased to announce a one night only performance of Frank Shouldice’s “The Mean Streets of Garradrimna” at St Patricks Hall Delvin on Saturday 5th of May 2018 at 7.30pm.

Franks narrated piece takes a wry modern day look at Brinsley McNamaras life and work. Brinsley McNamara is on stage throughout and has lively conversations with his narrator, the characters from his most notorious book, and an American academic who has studied his career as a writer.

The play will be Rapscallion Drama Group’s debut performance under the direction of Teresa Coleman of Athboy Drama Society, and the group is comprised of performers from Delvin, Athboy, Mullingar, and Castlepollard.

Doors open at St Patrick’s Hall Delvin on Saturday 5th of May 2018 and curtain goes up at 7.30pm sharp. The performance will be followed by a panel discussion and audience Q&A on the book’s artistic and social legacy, and the relevance of its themes in today’s rural Ireland.
