Westmeath County Council is to close a section of the National Secondary road network as described hereunder, for a 3 month period from 09:00 hrs. on Monday 13th March 2017 to 18:00 hrs. on Monday 12th June 2017 inclusive. This restriction is necessary to facilitate road construction and realignment works.
Road to be closed:
N52 National Secondary Road between its junction with the L-1015 at Cloghan and its junction with the L-57231 at Killynon (Cooke).
Southbound (Delvin to Mullingar)
Traffic wishing to travel southwest on the N52 towards Mullingar should travel west on the R395 from Delvin to Castlepollard and then travel south along the R394 from Castlepollard to Mullingar. Where the R394 crosses the N4 dual carriageway at Junction 17 (Castlepollard), southbound traffic should take the east-bound on-ramp (N4 Dublin) and travel east along the N4 to Junction 15 (Marlinstown) and continue journey south along the N52 (Tullamore).
Northbound (Mullingar to Delvin)
Traffic travelling north on the N52 should not exit the N4/N52 at Junction 16 (Delvin), but should continue on the N4 west-bound and exit at Junction 17 (Castlepollard) before proceeding north along the R394 to Castlepollard, then taking the R395 east-bound through Collinstown, and rejoining the N52 in Delvin Village.
A local diversion utilising Local Roads L-1501 and L-1015 via Killucan will be in place to facilitate local traffic.
Diversion routes will be signposted.
