Major Works Planned For N52

Works on N52 to commence in the autumnYou may have noticed over the past few months that a lot of work has been undertaken to cut away trees and to place new fences along stretches of the Delvin to Mullingar road. This is all preparing the way for a major upgrade of the road between Cloghan and the old Beehive Lodge at Killynon Cooke later this year.

It is expected that work will commence once a contractor has been appointed but road users should expect that there will be disruption to traffic between September 2016 and February 2017. At its height, the affected stretch will be closed to all but local traffic for up to 3 months. Hauliers will need to ensure that they monitor the works and amend their routes accordingly.

Westmeath County Council has indicated that further plans to improve the road at Williamstown – site of several accidents over the year including a fatal incident last September – will then be brought forward.

Naturally, details of road closure dates will be published on this website once they have been announced.
