Litter Picking At Rosmead

Smiling BessSadly, like many countryside locations, the roads surrounding our village have seen a sharp increase in the amount of illegal dumping in recent times. Aside from being an eyesore, the rubbish deposited causes a risk to nearby cattle.

One of the litter hotspots has been at Rosmead under the silent gaze of Silent Bess where bin bags have been left, only to be torn apart by nearby wildlife and for the contents to be spread over the surrounding area.

Local resident, Olive Power, has enlisted the help of an environmental officer from Westmeath County Council and is inviting other residents to come out on Saturday 22nd at 2pm to help with a litter pick. Olive is even offering coffee to those who show up.

Naturally, every effort will be made to identify those that have shown such little regard for our local environment, but in the meantime, let’s do what we can to protect our village.
