Help For Ukraine

Labhra Ní Néill is coordinating a local collection for the people of Ukraine. This will feed into the efforts of Dublin WOSP who are organizing humanitarian aid for Ukrainian refugees in Poland. Their reliable courier company Green Speed Express will transport all gifts directly to Poland, and then to the Ukrainian border to one of the organizations operating on the spot. Everything for free completely.

If you can spare any of the following, they would be gratefully received:

  • Baby Items (Food, formula, hats, gloves, bottles, car seats etc);
  • Pet Food (Dog & cat);
  • Brand new towels & bed linen;
  • Brand new blankets;
  • First Aid (Plasters, bandages, antiseptic creams etc);
  • Batteries, Power banks, USB leads, Flashlights;
  • Sleeping bags;
  • Hygiene (Shower gels, sanitary towels, shampoos, hand sanitisers);
  • Earplugs & noise-canceling headphones;
  • Disposable plates, cups & cutlery.

Donations can be dropped into her at Peadar Tóibín’s office on weekdays from 9.30-1pm. She can also be contacted on 086-3642363 to arrange drop-off outside these hours. Leavys are also accepting donations on her behalf. The collection will run all this week and possibly next week too.

In addition, Ian Jackson is taking on the Mizen to Malin challenge:

I am taking on the Mizen to Malin cycling challenge which is from Ireland’s most southerly point (Mizen Head) in Co. Cork to the most northerly (Malin Head) in Co. Donegal. The route is ~650km and will take 4 days to complete. I am also taking on this challenge in mid-March which means the weather will likely be very unpleasant (it’s not unusual for us to get storms, snow, or freezing temperatures at this time of year). I am doing this to raise much-needed funds for Irish Red Cross as they are doing some fantastic work in Ukraine to help people impacted by the Russian invasion – they also work in many other war-torn countries such as Afghanistan and Syria. They truly are on the front line helping people who need it the most!

Thank you for supporting and please share the link/details with friends and family to help raise vital funds for those impacted by these tragedies!
