Friendship Club Trip to Ballymascanlon, Dundalk

On Tuesday the 25th of April the Delvin Friendship Club set off for a Spring break to Ballymascanlon Hotel in Dundalk. We left Delvin at 11 am and, after some wind and sleet while travelling, arrived in Dundalk safe and sound. We enjoyed a lovely lunch in the hotel. After lunch we had a shopping trip to Dundalk town and later we paid a visit St. Bridget’s Well in Faughart. Everyone enjoyed the music in the hotel that night.

On Wednesday we visited The Busy Bees Pottery in Emyvale in Monaghan which was very a very enjoyable and interesting experience. The highlight of the holiday however was afternoon tea in Castle Lesley which was a real treat and we walked around the gardens afterwards. Thankfully no ghosts appeared. We enjoyed a table quiz in the hotel that night which is always good fun.

On Thursday we picked up our tour guide in Bambridge on the way to Belfast. He was very knowledgeable and gave us the history of the many places of interest in Belfast. We had a walk around Stormont Castle and City Hall. We stopped off at the amazing Titanic building and then had a wander around the shops.

On Friday we visited the beautiful town of Carlingford, wandered around its narrow streets and took in the amazing views of the Medieval town. Finally we had dinner on our way home in the Ardboyne Hotel in Navan. Everyone agreed that it was a wonderful break.

Special thanks from Alice Reilly, Chairperson of the Friendship Club, to the fantastic people who work tirelessly in the background and to Jason Carolan our bus driver who helped make this trip such a success.
