Delvin Friendship Club hosted their annual Christmas Party on Sunday 15th December. It was a happy, fun afternoon which served as a reminder of just how lucky we are to have such a wonderful, active and welcoming club in our community.
The thought that went in to organising this occasion was clear to see from the candles in the windows on arrival, to the table settings and the incredible team of twenty volunteers who looked after the 100 plus guests.
A fabulous 3 course meal was prepared by David Smyth Catering and this was accompanied by generous helpings of wine courtesy of Paul and Sara at Williams Daybreak. I noted a trolley of beers and spirits doing the rounds after dinner too so nobody was left thirsty. Individuals and businesses donated in excess of 40 prizes to a bumper raffle, including a special hamper courtesy of Michael Leonard – another ardent supporter of the club.
My personal thanks to all the volunteers, the sponsors, Santa for his comments about my facial hair, David and the catering team, musician Brian Mullen and all the party goers themselves for making my mother and I so welcome.
Wishing the committee and all members and their families a very happy Christmas and good health in 2020.
