on Saturday 23rd April from 20:00 at St Patrick’s Hall, Main Street, Delvin
Friend of Delvin Frank Shouldice, author of Rapscallion’s sell-out “Mean Streets of Garradrimna” brings “Six Days” his compelling story of the Easter 1916 battle for North King Street to St. Patricks Hall Delvin on Saturday 23rd April at 8 pm.
“Six Days” is a spoken word performance featuring first-hand accounts of those who fought in the Four Courts Battalion in North King Street during the 1916 Rising (including his grandfather Frank, and his great uncle Jack), with musical accompaniment from cellist Frieda Freytag.
These accounts are mesmerizingly eloquent. At times very funny, deeply sad, and often shockingly violent. Frank has done a marvelous job of weaving these disparate accounts into a single, compelling narrative of what took place in the area around North King Street during those 6 days in Easter Week of 1916.
Brings home with unforgettable force a very real experience of history. – Prof Luke Gibbons
