Mary McEvoy will present the one woman show “Fruitcake” at St Patrick’s Hall in Delvin on Saturday 25th May. After the show, complimentary tea, coffee and fruitcake will be provided.
“Fruitcake” by Alice Barry
Under the guise of a cookery demonstration, Della Dolan (Mary McEvoy) shows us how to make ‘the perfect Fruitcake’. She divests provoking memories to give a fascinating account of her life on an Irish farm. She divulges a chequered past involving hardship, murder and intrigue – but most of all – great sacrifice, realisation and love.
Funny and poignant with accessible visuals, this play will make you laugh and cry and remind you why life is ultimately rewarding and exciting for all its ups and downs.
Tickets – priced €15 – are available now from Michael Leonard.
St Patrick’s Hall was built in 1832 and began life as the original village chapel. In 1918, the chapel was given a new lease of life serving as a parish hall. The hall was fully renovated in 2010 and several community groups now make full use of the facility, with regular social dances, concerts and theatrical presentations taking place.
