On Friday 18th September, representatives from Delvin Vintage Club travelled to Foxrock to present a cheque for €5,221.29 to Elizabeth Smyth of the LauraLynn Children’s Hospice.
LauraLynn is Ireland’s only children’s hospice, providing respite, transitional and crisis care for children with life-limiting conditions and enabling their parents to be “mum and dad” rather than full time carers. All this takes place in a warm environment that is bright, happy and – above everything else – positive.
During their visit, the group was given a brief overview of the work of the Foundation and facilities which include a respite care centre, a residential centre for young adults with intellectual and physical disabilities and end of life care suite for terminally ill children. The group was then invited to put on their superhero costumes and meet Artjom who was celebrating his 7th birthday!
The funds raised by the Delvin Vintage Club tractor run in July, will go towards the development and roll-out of family home based care and support services for children with life limiting conditions.
Thank you to Elizabeth and the team for the warm welcome, and a very happy birthday to Artjom!
