The 22nd of February is the Birthday of Baden-Powell, the Founder of the scout movement. The mission of Scouting is to contribute to the education of young people through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Law, to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society.
Delvin Scout Group decided to celebrate “Founder’s Day” with a local community based project. We wanted each child in all sections to participate and so we came up with the idea of decorating the playground wall in the village. It has the hand-print of each child with their initials and a floral design trimming the edge. It brings a whole new light to the playground area and we hope it has encouraged our scouts to appreciate and enjoy the playground with a sense of pride.
Many thanks to all our leaders who were out in cold all day and thank you to all the children who participated. A special thank you is owed to Karen McGee for pulling it all together!
