Delvin GAA Notes – 28/02/16

Leinster Hurling League Divison 3

Delvin 4-14 Clane (Kildare) 0-13
Delvin commenced their 2016 hurling year with a trip on Saturday last to Clane in Kildare to take on the home side in the Leinster Hurling League. After a very lively affair which will stand to both teams Delvin took the points with a fine return of 4-14 against the hosts 0-13.

Team & Scorers:- Barry Williams, Graeme Daly, Frank McGrath, Tosh Clune, Aaron McCormack, Alan Clune (0-1), Patrick Clune, Killian Murphy (0-3), Stefan Ennis, Ollie Cassidy, Darragh Clinton (2-7), Conor Dolan, Ronan Kelly (0-1), Paddy Farrington (2-0), Dan Clune (0-1). Subs:- Darren Flynn (0-1), Stephen Reilly, Fintan Cox, John Cogan, John O’Reilly.

Delvin have been drawn in the same group as St Fechin’s of Louth And Oliver Plunkett’s/Eoghan Ruadh of Dublin. St Fechin’s defeated Oliver Plunklett’s last weekend on a scoreline of 3-13 to 0-9. We are scheduled to face St Fechins in Delvin this Saturday March 5th at 3pm and are due to travel to Dublin to face Oliver Plunketts on March 19th.

Championship Draws

The draws for the various Westmeath championships in both hurling and football were made last Wednesday night in Mullingar.

Football
Delvin’s Junior football championship will take on a familiar note as they’ve been drawn against Loughnavalley in the first round which is a repeat of Delvin’s 2015 opening fixture. The tie has been pencilled in for the 16th of April so mark it into your diaries. The junior championship Group A draw in full is as follows; Delvin v Loughnavalley, St. Pauls v Multy, Kilbeggan v St. Josephs, Finea v Ballycomoyle

Hurling
In the Senior hurling championship we have been drawn in the opening round of fixtures against our neighbours Brownstown. This is provisionally scheduled for weekend of April 9/10 but is subject to change.The full first round draw is:- Brownstown v Delvin, LL Gaels v Clonkill, Castletown v Raharney, St. Brigids v Castlepollard.

Membership Due
Club membership for 2016 is now due and must be paid by 31st of March. Adult membership for playing members is €60 while non-playing membership is €30.

Underage Registration

Last day for Underage Registration will take place at the GAA park on Saturday next March 5th between 11am and 12 noon. Orders are also been taken on the day for club tops which are being subsidised for paid underage members.

Club Training

Delvin Club training continues in Mullingar Barracks every Tuesday and Friday at 8.15pm. This is good quality training so all players to attend and we always welcome new players.
