Delvin GAA Football Notes – 20/02/16

Division 7 League (2015)

Ballinagore 3-04 Delvin 5-16
Delvin travelled to Ballinagore for another of last year’s unfinished league games on Saturday the 20th of February. Given the 2pm throw in Delvin was missing a number of their regulars due to work commitments. However Delvin still had a strong team and performed quite well on the day.

The game followed the same pattern as our last game and Delvin found themselves on the receiving end of two soft goals early on. After this Delvin settled into the game and a nice point from Ronan Kelly was followed by a well finished goal by Eoin Carolan. But once again Delvin were struck a sucker punch when Ballinagore got their third goal of the first half. This was Ballinagore’s last score of the half as Delvin struck over a string of nice points. Fintan Cox finished the half with a goal and a point after being switched from goals to the forward line to leave the half time score 2-08 to 3-00 in Delvin’s favour.

The second half was much better for Delvin as Darragh Clinton, Eoin Carolan, Dean Poyton and Killian Murphy continued to kick over some long range points. A second goal from Eoin Carolan and two more from substitute Jamie Walsh left the full time score Delvin 5-16 to 3-04.
