Delvin Expo FAQs

The Delvin Community Expo (The Delvin ‘What’?)

The Delvin Community Expo will take place on Thursday 6th June from 7-9pm at St Patrick’s Hall. If you’re not quite sure what that is, this might help!

Is This A Public Event?

Yes – and admission is FREE.

What Is It?

The intention is to gather representatives from local community groups together in one place at one time and to give local people a chance to meet them, learn about their activities, ask questions and maybe even sign up.

Why Is This Happening?

Delvin is a great community but it’s easy to lose touch for whatever reason. This event will bring people together, allow them to reconnect (or meet for the first time) and offer a chance to hear about some of the exciting plans that people have for community life and the village itself.

Which Organisations Will Be Attending?

  • Delvin GAA & Camogie, Delvin Youth Club, 3rd Westmeath Delvin Scouts, Youthreach, Delvin Bowls, Community Alert, St Vincent de Paul – and several more
  • Representatives from Mullingar Fire Service will be in attendance to talk about home safety and they will be bringing a fire engine – the kids won’t want to miss that!
  • Two members of the Gardai will be attending to talk about community engagement
  • It is hoped that a representative from Westmeath County Council will also attend

Who Is Organising It?

The Delvin Community Action Plan (DCAP) committee.

What Is The Delvin Community Action Plan?

Come to the Expo and find out! 😉 An action plan was put together for Delvin following input from local people at a meeting held early last year. The plan includes a programme of actions and it assigns responsibilities for carrying them out. The DCAP committee will work to support the community, help groups to access any funding entitlements and follow-up on the actions that have been assigned to other parties including Westmeath County Council. The committee has its work cut out so support from the community is essential!
