We are on the final week of preparations for the 2015 Delvin Book Fair set to take place on Sunday 3rd of May. Doors will open at 12 noon, strictly no admittance before this time.
Books are still coming in and at the last count it was estimated that there are approximately 25,000 books – all of which have been carefully categorised and will be presented in individual stalls on the day.
In addition to books there is an array of craft stalls displaying and selling everything from decorative stone to fresh breads – something for everybody.
Music on the day will be provided by Pat kelleghan, Donal Coughlan, The Fox family and The Valley Singers. We will also present readings by Eamonn Lawlor, Eileen Dunne, Mánchan Magan, Carolann Copland and Anthony Ryan.
As always the kids will be well looked after with a massive collection of kids books for sale.
At present, lines are being sold for prizes on the day. The top prize will be a copy ‘The Great Delvin’ by Hannah Fitzsimons. This book gives a great account of Delvin’s history from the beginning of time to the late twentieth century. This book is very rare and only occasionally appears at auctions.
We look forward to seeing old faces returning to our fair and more importantly new ones coming for the first time, as always admission is free and there is plenty of free parking.
