Clubs & Groups Invited To Mark World Suicide Prevention Day

We are inviting you to have your organisation/club join in marking World Suicide Prevention Day on 10th September.

World Suicide Prevention Day is a day set aside all over the world to remind us of the importance to help or do anything to prevent suicide in our communities. Each year it is held on 10th September.

In Mullingar on Monday 10th September an Ecumenical Service will be held in the Cathedral at 7.30 p.m. This is a community effort lead out by the Soroptimists of Mullingar and District in association with Living Links and the HSE. The service will be uplifting giving a message of hope for the future to the community through music, song and prayer.

A key part of the service will be an entrance procession with representatives from the many organisations and associations in Westmeath and Longford. We would be delighted if someone from your club/organisation would join in the procession. All that is involved is that:

  • One representatives comes to the Cathedral for 7 p.m. on 10th September. They will be given a card with the name of your club/organisation to carry in the procession.
  • Everyone in the procession will walk behind the Westmeath and Longford flags from the entrance door of the cathedral to the altar.
  • Seats will be reserved for them for during the service.
  • At the end of the service the procession will lead out of the cathedral across to St Mary’s Hall for refreshments.

Please let us know if you can join us to support suicide prevention and have your club/organisation join in this entrance procession. Please e-mail sarah.mccormack@hse.ie or call 086 2552720 or scassidy@ckfinancials.ie or call 0862437954 to let us know of your participation. We need to know that you will be represented so that we can have your card ready for collection on the night – in the reply you can include the name of your group that you would like to have on the display card.

Thanking you
Sarah McCormack
