Clonmellon Potato Festival 2016Come and meet the one and only Mr Tayto at Clonmellon’s second annual Potato Festival, taking place this Sunday (21st August) from 2pm in the Market Square!

Sir Walter Raleigh planted Ireland’s first potatoes at Killua Castle and this growing local festival aims to re-establish Clonmellon as the real birth place of the Irish potato.

Visitors can expect a packed afternoon of fun for all the family, including;

  • A Cooking Demonstration by Padraic Og Gallagher
  • Billy Bubbles Magic and Punch and Judy Shows
  • Potato peeling, largest potato & children’s colouring competitions
  • Country & traditional music
  • Colcanon, boxty and lots of food
  • Kids fun area
  • Fun and games for young and old with great prizes up for grabs!
