Public Roads & Footpaths – Funding Applications Open

Westmeath County Council is inviting expressions of interest from local communities wishing to avail of funding under the Community Involvement Scheme (CIS) 2021, towards the repair and upgrade of local public roads and footpaths.

Local authorities do not have the funds to carry out desirable maintenance works to all roads in their charge. The Department of Transport therefore provides funding to encourage local communities to get involved in the restoration and maintenance of local public roads and footpaths.

The purpose of this initiative is to maximise the resources available for local road maintenance and is subject to a local community contribution of a minimum of 15% of the works costs.

Schemes will be assessed for inclusion in a programme of works for completion during 2021/2022, subject to the provision of funding and scheme conditions.

The closing date for receipt of applications is the 31st March 2021.
