I have been practicing mindfulness for many years now. I also teach it to others. I firmly believe that mindfulness should be thought in schools as a necessary tool to overcome life’s stressors.

I practice this ancient art everyday, the benefits of this is present in my daily life. I use mindfulness in my counselling and Psychotherapy sessions, if clients are willing to try it.

For me, mindfulness is not based on any particular religion, I feel this is a very personal thing, individuals choose to incorporate their own spirituality into their practice.

Our world has become so fast paced, many of us are on the go all the time and perhaps not listening to the body when it shows signs of being tired. Many of us process life like we are some sort of robot that needs no rest, relaxation or rejuvenation.

A large proportion of society is running from their feelings, so keeping busy in the external world becomes an obsession. Perhaps turning to an external substitute such as alcohol, drugs, porn, sex, gambling, food, work, exercise. Many of these people keep running, running away from their feelings, and maybe not even knowing that this is their underlying issue.

I have worked with many people that have had physical ailments such as high blood pressure, IBS, heart issues, some auto immune diseases, back pain, muscle tension, headaches, sinus infections, low immune systems. The list is endless. However the practice of mindfulness does assist with the management and sometimes the reversal of some of these physical conditions. Many of the people I have worked with can certainly agree with this.

The therapeutic use of mindfulness is a technique I use to help my clients to get into sync with their mind and body, and the connection between the two.

I teach to many people the connection between the mind and what happens in the body through the most recent research on neuroscience.

Anxiety, Stress, Panic are high fueled emotions that create havoc in people’s lives. Many people opting to medicate to alleviate their suffering. But does medication ever actually address the route of the problem. I do believe there is a need for medication in certain cases, however the majority of people attending a medical practitioner, need a prescription to attend a mindfulness course.

When signing up to any type of course, ensure that the person facilitating has the correct qualifications, as a psychotherapist I have seen more harm happening than good when the practitioner has not the correct qualifications to teach the subject.

Our inner world can sometimes be a scary place, many of us try to run away from ourselves, how far can you run from yourself?

Mindfulness has the power to unlock many inner world doors, and eventually bringing you to a place in yourself that you feel calm, relaxed, in the moment, at ease.

I have an 8 week experiential and interactive course beginning on the 8th of October 8pm-9pm
