Campaign To Reopen Killucan Train Station

A public meeting was held in Killucan on Wednesday 20th February to brief residents and other interested parties on the ongoing campaign to reopen the station in Killucan.

From Becky Loftus Dore

Last night over 50 people attended our Public Meeting regarding the reopening of the Killucan Train Station. A history of the campaign was given and a leaflet with all information was handed out – this will be added to Facebook Page shortly.

It was decided that we should setup a Facebook Page (thanks Billy for doing that) and a WhatsApp group for updates. Should you wish to be added to our WhatsApp group please forward your details to Becky on 087 677 8270.

Next Steps
A meeting has been arranged with Jim Meade, CEO of Irish Rail and a separate meeting with the Westmeath County Manger to discuss our present situation and what is required by both parties to move forward. Once both meetings have taken place, a strategy – created by the community – will be put in place for our campaign.

2024 Local Elections

As in previous years, I will NOT be sharing canvassing posts from candidates standing in the local elections on channels connected to the Delvin Village Website.

Candidates are welcome to create profiles in the directory (usual fees apply) and post their contact details and plans there without prejudice. I may post links to that section of the directory as the election approaches *if* more than one candidate chooses to use it, but no preference will be afforded to any individual. If one or none sign up to this, that is not on me either!

To create a profile, visit delvinvillage.com/business/

Please also note that the three social channels that I manage are Delvin Westmeath on Facebook, @delvinwestmeath on Instagram and the currently dormant DelvinVillage on YouTube. These channels will remain neutral. No shade is intended on pages with similar names but I wanted to make my position clear.
