DSLC Unveils A Very Special Painting
In May 2010, more than 3,000 people attended the inaugural Delvin (“Garradrimna”) Book Fair and browsed through 20,000 titles encompassing every imaginable genre in a massive reading room created for the day at Delvin Cattle Market.
To commemorate the 2011 Delvin Book Fair which will take place on Sunday May 1st, organisers – the Delvin Sports and Leisure Centre – approached accomplished local artist Hazel Revington Cross and commissioned her to produce a special, one off painting to reflect the theme of this year’s book fair – “Gulliver’s Travels”. Entitled “Na Fir Beag” (“The Little Men”), the painting would be a stunning and unique addition to any art collection – and children will love it too!
On first glance, a viewer may assume that the painting is of a beautiful garden, yet take a closer look and you will see that it conceals ten secrets pertaining to the magical world of Jonathan Swift’s Liliput.
When talking of her work on the painting, Hazel said that she wanted to create something truly special – a piece that would look well on a wall in anyone’s home – and not something tacky or immediately obvious like a painting of Gulliver himself!
One lucky person will win this fabulous painting at the Book Fair this May Bank Holiday Weekend, so be sure to call in and support this worthy cause and it could be you.
Congratulations to MAJELLA MURPHY who won this one off art work at the Delvin Book Fair on May 1st!

About The Artist
Hazel Revington is a self taught artist and has been drawing for as long as she can remember. Her work is primarily influenced by personal experiences of people, stories and places she has visited, either individually or through voluntary work undertaken for the Niall Mellon Trust.
Hazel first shared her work in 2009 and pieces of her art have since found their way into many private collections across the country and also further afield within Europe and as far away as Antigua and South Africa.
In October 2010, renowned artist and sculptor Graham Knuttel officially opened “The Garden Gallery” at Hazel’s Garden Centre in Crowenstown. The gallery has proven to be a popular local attraction in its own right and features a selection of Hazel’s art alongside pieces by guest artists, some of whom are local.
In March 2011, Hazel’s work was chosen by World Wide Art Books for inclusion in their International Contemporary Masters Vol IV – an established and important reference book that is referred to by galleries all over the world.
