Michael Leonard is a prominent local businessman who was born and raised in Delvin.
Michael started his career in 1978 under the guidance of the late Brendan Kierney, who provided him with a solid grounding in the workings of a local store and who Michael fondly recalls, was “a perfect and inspirational first employer and role model”.
Michael purchased his current premises from Sylvester Geoghan in 1992, but the original shop was established in the early 60′s by Pat Devine.
Part of the shop was orginally a school house, and a plaque marking this fact is still clearly visible over the old entrance to the post office, which was opened in 1994 and is now an integral part of the shop.
