Irish National Country Fair 2010
The Irish National Country Fair will take place this bank holiday weekend (31st July & 1st August) at Ballinlough Castle, just north of Delvin on the N52.
The fair is well established as one of the largest game & country fairs in Ireland and promises to include something for every age and interest, with plenty of shows, demonstrations and entertainment plus treats in abundance for all the family.
The fair is very “hands on” with a wealth of opportunities for visitors to have a go at a wide range of activities, including clay-pigeon shooting, archery, falconry and more. A variety of accessible shows, exhibitions and demonstrations will also take place during the two day event, with horse & hound and birds of prey shows, fine vintage tractors, gundog demonstrations and Cossack horsemanship – plus a breathtaking air display by Europe’s top aerobatic team in their Russian built Yak stunt planes.
For those that like to shop, there will be more than 150 stalls available with tempting goods ranging from hand-made crafts such as woollens, ceramics, pottery, jewellery, textiles, toys and silverware to culinary treats in an international food fair featuring crepes, paella, homemade fudge from the Isle of Arran and much more.
Scottish Celtic band, Clann an Drumma will provide musical entertainment alongside traditional dancing, horse drawn carriage rides, miniature horses and plenty of children’s entertainment.
All in all, the National Country Fair promises a fun day out with activities that all the family can enjoy – and it’s right on our doorstep!
