Delvin Home & Away
The granddaughter of Balrath North Billy & Dolores Moran who lives in Burton Upon Trent England, recently had a very special soccer treat when the u18 Irish Soccer team paid a visit to Burton Upon Trent prior to playing England at the Pirelli Stadium .
The Burton Moran’s are regular visitors to Delvin and think the Delvin Village website is great for keeping in touch with what is going on in and around the village.
Catherine who attends the local Catholic High School with her older brother Conan was selected to watch and take part in a training session with the Irish team, who used the school as a training base prior to the game . Catherine is a keen soccer player and captains a local team as well as the school team . Catherine was lucky enough to be selected to put the Irish keeper to the test at the end of training session and did something that the England team didn’t manage to do in the real match and scored past the Irish keeper. All the Morans went to the game to support the boys in green and a great night was had by all, seeing Ireland beat the old enemy 1-0 in a great encounter with Ireland also picking up the Centenary Cup on the night as winners overall of the tournament.
Travelling regularly to visit family in Delvin and through viewing the Delvin Village website the Burton Moran’s think it is great to see the new sports centre facilities in Delvin developing and taking shape and who knows in a few years time Delvin could be producing future Irish stars travelling far and wide to all corners of the world.
