Community Alert Launched

Delvin’s new Community Alert scheme was welcomed by the small but enthusiastic group of local representatives that attended the official launch on Wednesday 2nd December.

Once the scheme is up and running, Community Alert will benefit the local community in several ways. Aside from closer links between the community and local Garda, vulnerable people living in the area will have access to greater support from scheme members and others, and the scheme can also be employed to develop a greater sense of community involvement in Delvin.

Following short presentations from Garda representatives including local Sergeant, Damien Bartley, Mullingar Inspector – Jalrath Folan, Sergeant John Connolly and Development Officer, Noel McCarthy; a caretaker committee of two was elected to start up the group locally.

Mick Kenny, who is the chairperson of other local groups including the Castle View Residents Association will chair the new group. The Liaison Officer for the Delvin Community Alert Scheme shall be Garda Niall Sheridan.

Further information will follow in due course, but if you would like to be involved in setting up the new scheme or to show your support for it, please drop us a line using the form below.
